QNu Labs Secures ₹200 Cr in Series A1 Funding

Bengaluru, September 9, 2026: Indian deep-tech cybersecurity company QNu Labs has raised ₹200 crore in a Series A1 funding round led by the National Quantum Mission and Speciale Invest, marking a major step in the company’s efforts to scale quantum-safe cybersecurity solutions in India and international markets.

The latest funding round also saw participation from Sony Innovation Fund, Gaja Capital and Artha Ventures, among other investors. With the new investment, QNu Labs’ total capital raised has reached ₹375 crore.

The funding arrives as governments and enterprises around the world increasingly prepare for the cybersecurity challenges associated with the development of quantum computing. As quantum technologies advance, organisations are assessing how existing encryption systems could be affected and are exploring security architectures designed to withstand future quantum and AI-enabled threats.

QNu Labs to Accelerate R&D and Global Expansion

QNu Labs plans to use the fresh capital to strengthen its research and development capabilities, expand its technology stack and increase sales and go-to-market operations across India and overseas markets.

A portion of the investment will also serve as QNu Labs’ contribution towards an approved project funded under RDI to develop the technology backbone for India’s Quantum Secure and Sensing Networks (IQSN).

The company plans to broaden its capabilities beyond quantum-safe cybersecurity by expanding into areas such as quantum sensing and artificial intelligence. The objective is to support deployments across critical sectors while preparing for the growing global requirement for quantum-safe migration.

With more than a decade of experience in the emerging quantum-security sector, QNu Labs is now looking to move from technology development and early deployments toward large-scale adoption across international markets.

India’s Quantum-Safe Cybersecurity Push

The latest investment also highlights the growing role of India’s deep-tech ecosystem in developing strategic technologies with global applications.

According to QNu Labs Co-founder Sunil Gupta, India has taken an early position in the quantum era, while the National Quantum Mission and its associated initiatives are helping move quantum-safe technology from policy discussions toward commercial implementation.

Gupta said QNu Labs has spent more than a decade developing its technology stack and has already deployed solutions across government, critical infrastructure and the banking, financial services and insurance sectors.

He added that investment in indigenous technology can give India an opportunity to secure its expanding digital infrastructure with sovereign solutions while competing in international markets.

Gupta also noted that approximately 80% of the latest funding round came from new global investors, which he described as a strong indication of increasing international confidence in quantum-safe cybersecurity.

Gaja Capital Backs QNu Labs’ Quantum Security Vision

The funding round has also attracted institutional interest from Gaja Capital, which has invested in QNu Labs as the company moves toward its next phase of expansion.

Gopal Jain, Co-founder and Managing Partner, Gaja Capital, said quantum-safe security is increasingly becoming a critical component of digital infrastructure.

According to Jain, QNu Labs has spent a decade building its technology stack in India and has already deployed its solutions in environments where cybersecurity and trust are particularly important, including critical infrastructure, government and BFSI.

He said the investment case is now shifting from proving the underlying technology to scaling its adoption as demand for quantum-safe security increases.

Speciale Invest Continues Its Support

Speciale Invest has also continued its backing of QNu Labs. The investment firm had initially backed the company five years ago, based on the expectation that quantum-safe security would eventually move from research environments into mainstream commercial applications.

Vishesh Rajaram, Managing Partner, Speciale Invest, said governments and enterprises globally are increasingly preparing for the quantum era and that QNu Labs is entering an important phase of growth and international expansion.

The continued investment reflects growing confidence that quantum-safe cybersecurity is transitioning from an emerging technology category into a strategic requirement for organisations.

Sony Innovation Fund Invests in Indian Deep Tech

The participation of Sony Innovation Fund further strengthens the global investor interest surrounding QNu Labs.

Yoko Fukata, Director and Head of Sony Ventures India, Sony Innovation Fund, said the fund is actively investing in India’s deep-tech ecosystem and sees QNu Labs as a pioneer and market leader in India’s quantum-safe cybersecurity sector.

The investment is expected to support QNu Labs as it expands its solutions into global markets.

National Quantum Mission and India’s Quantum Ambition

The latest investment also aligns with India’s broader ambition to establish capabilities in quantum communication, quantum computing, quantum sensing and related technologies.

Ravindra Barlingay, CEO of IITM C-DOT Samgnya Technologies Foundation, the National Hub for Quantum Communication, said technological sovereignty in the quantum era will depend on the technologies and products nations are able to develop, secure and trust domestically.

He highlighted QNu Labs’ progress in quantum-safe cybersecurity and the participation of both domestic and international investors as an important milestone for India’s deep-tech ecosystem.

The company is expected to play a role in India’s efforts to develop trusted, sovereign and globally competitive quantum technologies.

QNu Labs’ Decade-Long Quantum Security Journey

QNu Labs was incubated at IIT Madras in 2016 and was founded by Srinivasa Rao Aluri and Sunil Gupta.

The company describes itself as a pioneer in India’s quantum-secure digital infrastructure and has developed patented and certified quantum-safe cybersecurity products aimed at protecting critical digital infrastructure.

Its solutions are designed to enable organisations to adopt quantum-safe infrastructure and security technologies without disrupting existing business operations.

The company currently has a team of around 160 engineers, physicists and mathematicians working across quantum cryptography, quantum communication and related technologies.
