Dr. Sanjana Brahmawar Mohan Highlights Grassroots Healthcare Initiatives at U.S. Dialogue Supported by the Association for India’s Development (AID) and The Friends of Mewar
Udaipur: Rajasthan’s grassroots healthcare efforts found a global audience as Udaipur-based public health expert and Co-Founder of Basic Health Services India, Dr. Sanjana Brahmawar Mohan, participated in a healthcare dialogue in Massachusetts, USA, where she shared insights from her work in improving healthcare access across rural Rajasthan.
The discussion brought together healthcare professionals, social sector leaders, researchers, and members of the Indian diaspora to explore ways of strengthening dignity-led and community-centered healthcare systems in underserved regions.
Drawing from her experience in rural Rajasthan, Dr. Mohan highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, maternal and child wellness, community participation, and locally driven healthcare models in improving outcomes in remote areas.
The programme was organised by the Association for India’s Development (AID) Boston in collaboration with The Friends of Mewar, a non-profit founded by Padmaja Kumari Parmar, which has been supporting initiatives in healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, and community welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, Padmaja Kumari Parmar said that sustainable improvements in rural healthcare require strong community engagement and long-term support for grassroots initiatives. She noted that showcasing successful models from Rajasthan on international platforms helps create greater awareness and opportunities for collaboration.
The dialogue served as a platform to highlight the work being carried out in Rajasthan’s rural communities and demonstrated how local healthcare innovations are increasingly contributing to global conversations on equitable and accessible healthcare.
The participation of Dr. Mohan and the involvement of The Friends of Mewar underscored the growing recognition of Rajasthan’s community-led healthcare initiatives beyond India’s borders.
